INDEX -

Design to improve life:
http://www.indexaward.dk/

At INDEX:, we dream of a world that is designed to suit the needs and aspirations of mankind. Our eight years of experience have shown, through thousands of conversations and thousands of life-improving designs, that design is a decisive factor of a better world.

Design by humans for humans.

Professsor John Heskett, who tells us "Design is the human capacity to shape and make our environments in ways that satisfy our needs and give meaning to our lives.“

Design offers environmental, social, and economically sustainable tools to make the world a safe and better environment for people. Design processes are the ways of working that identify solutions based on the knowledge, responsiveness, and methodology of designers.

I could see myself in a position where I could be analysing peoples needs and wants and re-laying translating that to a design team in the means to help them design something that is truly needed.

Two of my biggest strengths

Supporting and Co-operating

Understanding other people, being tolerant and sensitive to their feelings, and treating them fairly and ethically are important behaviours when working in direct contact with other people, such as colleagues, clients or customers. When working as part of a team it is very important to support others and cooperate rather than compete. Expressing sympathy is the key behaviour in supporting the emotional needs of people with difficulties such as medical patients.

Analysing and Interpreting

These behaviours are important for roles requiring good analytical skills. When working with information or solving problems, it is important to evaluate and review critically and produce solutions that are rational, practical and based on evidence. Communicating information and ideas effectively in writing and sharing expertise with others is essential for knowledge to disseminate through an organisation.

461 Professional Practice 2011

As business environments are changing fundamentally professional design practice faces new challenges working closely with different disciplines and cultures within new types of organisations. Being able to identify the critical success factors is crucial in an internationally oriented, more complex working environment. In the same way a good understanding about the relevance of design management, design strategy and design thinking in a business context is essential and can help to detect new fields of design activity.
